We are a certified chapter of the WordAlone Network. Our mission is to keep our members current with the latest activities of the parent organization along with the activities of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). We do this through monthly meetings held at local area churches and through occasional email notifications.

WordAlone Ministries has recently launched a completely revised website. The revision delineates WordAlone Ministries' new role in Lutheranism in North America. Through its "Ministry Forge," much effort is being given to "first order" evangelism through the SALT (Salvation Life and Truth), EMT (Evangelistic Mission Teams), Chaplain Corps, and LTC (Life Together Church) ministries. All of these ministries and more that are now running or will be running soon need volunteers. Please read through the descriptions of these ministries and see if God is calling you to "jump in." If so, please email Info@WordAlone.org

The Root of the Problem: Two Irreconcilable Ways of Reading the Bible — If you think the problems in the ELCA have to do with differences of opinion on matters of sexuality, you are only partially correct. Sadly the issue is much deeper and more dangereous. Our differences regarding human sexuality are only a symtom of the real problem. Read this article written by Pastor Mark Chavez for the WordAlone newsletter, Network News, March/April 2007 issue. It can help bring things into focus and can be used to assist in explaining our differences to others. You can download the PDF version of this newsletter Here. Continue your understanding of the sexuality issues with Two opposing theologies reside in the ELCA and its amplifying table.

For those who are asking themselves, "How did we get here?," read the excellent article by Dr. Robert Benne published in Christianity Today, where he asserts ". . . the ELCA has accepted the social gospel as its working theology. . . "How the ELCA Left the Great Tradition for Liberal Protestantism"

The Untold Stories

Scripture teaches that human beings are born with an orientation to sin. As Christians, we trust in God’s promise of forgiveness and repentance, knowing that God has the power to truly change lives. Martin Luther wrote in his Small Catechism, to be baptized into the body of Christ means that “our sinful self, with all its evil deeds and desires should be drowned through daily repentance; and that day after day a new self should arise to live with God in righteousness and purity forever.”

These are the stories that are too often left untold, of people who have struggled with their sexual identity and homosexual behavior, but who have made the difficult choice to strive day-by-day to be faithful to God’s Word.
